Map Setup Guide (Update - June 2017)

    This guide is based on the EVOS nightly run at 3:30AM server time (UTC). As such, certain assumptions will be made - other guilds or timeslots will likely have their own differences. All specific times listed here are in server time.

    How to find server time: Open up options, under User Interface on the first tab switch the In-Game Clock to Server Time. The time will appear in the corner of your minimap. You may also check what UTC is here: https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/timezone/utc

    *****Starting the Map*****

    3:00 (half hour before map time) - Start requesting three commanders in guild chat. Make sure to note that we can provide mentors and tags to assist if someone wants to try commanding a wurm. It is really important to make the commander call fun and engaging! Try to make sure all commanders are accounted for by 3:20.

    Lieutenants: If someone isn't quite ready to command on their own, or if someone is experiencing lag etc, you can also search for lieutenants as backup to keep things smooth and make newer commanders feel more at ease.

    3:15 (15 minutes before map time) - Start requesting three condi leads. Make sure to note that we can provide mentors if someone would like to try leading a defense team. Continue to make your calls enticing and positive!

    3:25 - Start moving to Bloodtide Coast to look at existing maps. Try to switch to the different maps by using character select, guesting to other servers, or going to a guild hall and back. Estimate the population of the map by looking at the number of names around the campfire area. If all maps seem full, you may also try "unrepping" EVOS briefly to avoid server bias.

    Map IPs: Maps are identified by their IP, found by typing "/ip" in chat and reading the last number before the colon and zero. It is rare, but possible to get maps of the same IP, in which case you will
    have to find some other means of telling them apart. Example: /ip returns - IP is 178.

    3:30 - Map time! Select the map with the lowest population*, based on reports from the different IPs. (If a new map spawns at any time between 3:25 and 3:30, you can claim it early - there won't be anything better!) PLEASE NOTE: If any map has experienced a closing notification, even if that notification disappears, choose a different one.

    * The lowest population estimate is based on the fact that maps may fill quickly. This call is crucial when there are outside factors that will cause a large population at wurm, such as the weekend, merges with other guilds, Bloodtide Coast Events daily. If the population is low (right after patch, holidays, etc), take whatever non-closing map there is.

    Call the map in guild chat - once someone says "calling map" it will be considered official. Invite commanders and defense leads to the map through a party, and ensure that all commanders and defense leads are on the map before continuing. Start by announcing to map chat that EVOS will be using the map - this is your first claim that others can see. EX: EVOS is hosting Triple Trouble at {waypoint}, come join us on the fire!

    Taxis - Set up a squad with a green tag to make it clear that it isn't a zerg squad. Set a squad message announcing that the squad is a Taxi, to ensure that players attempting to join in the map are not misled. Once the squad is up, move yourself to group 2 to avoid confusion. Advertise your squad in the World Bosses section of the LFG tool. Use "EVOS Triple Trouble Taxi" as the group name. Edit the squad message to remind folks to stack on the tag at Firthside when they get on map.

    *****Defence Teams*****

    Condi and Reflect: Once all leads are on the map, start advertising for defense teams in map and say chat. Direct players interested in condi to the hill where leads should be forming parties, and players interested in reflect or blocking to the guild world symbol. Make sure to mention that newbies are welcome in both teams, and that we can teach these tasks to ANY CLASS. Additionally, you can mention that condi deals with husk spawns and reflect/block deals with eggs etc.

    Defense Numbers:
    Reflect: Minimum 1 player per wurm, generally 2, 3 if one player is learning. Any more than that will make it difficult for each individual to know how well they are doing. If there are not enough reflectors or blockers, you can't do all wurms. Reflect should call in guild chat at around :40-45 minutes to clarify their numbers.
    Condi: 3-6 people per wurm. 3 for a blocked wurm as backup/vet clear, 5 for a standard wurm, 6 if you have enough new/inexperienced folks.

    Squad setup: Reflect team is to form a squad (non-wurm colored tag). Set up subsquads and make a squad message stating them. Make sure the message mentions which wurm is blocked. For current block schedule, please see guild message of the day. - 2 crimson, 3 amber, 4 cobalt, 5 training (reflect/block - condi training is provided directly in groups) - group 1 is reserved for the lobby area. Once everyone in reflect has moved to the correct subsquad and extras have left, the squad leader invites in each of the condi parties, who will move to their wurm squads. Shadows (someone to fill in if there is a disconnect or other problem) are to stay in subsquad 1. When all teams are organized, drop the tag.

    Rare Veggie Pizza is dropped after the full squad is formed and announced in both map and squad chat for zerg members with condi builds. All squads can split to their wurms for training when ready. By the time the wurm spawns, all defence members should be together in their wurm sub squads, and ideally, clear around zerg split time for when that will happen.

    *****Zerg Splits*****

    3:45UTC - Start looking at the numbers to see how many wurms may be possible. Remind people regularly to stack on the fire if they're zerging. Expect people to continue joining the map, and split if triple numbers are obtained and defenses are filled, and that more folks may be harvesting or exploring while waiting for split. The number of wurms should be decided before 3:55 based on the numbers currently in the map. At this point you should be committed, do not give in to pressure to do more wurms after you've decided on less than 3.

    Estimated Split Numbers: If lower numbers are steadily climbing, commanders can agree to list in LFG under world bosses, including their color in the taxi name. EX: EVOS Triple Trouble Cobalt Wurm.

    20-25 - single crimson
    25-30 - single cobalt
    30-35 - single amber
    50-55 - double crimson and one other
    60-70 - double any two wurms
    71+ - triple wurm!

    Players near the fire may be included in the total counts.

    Split: Any commanders who have a taxi up should inform their groups that they are starting a new squad. Invite someone to come be the taxi spot if there's still people trying to get in, and remind them to drop squad and join a tag after getting into the map. All commanders start a fresh squad and move to their locations. Inform the people on the map that it is time to split up and identify the colour of the tag for each wurm, as well as reminders if people need to know what escort does what, what wurm does what, etc.

    Avoid using guild chat for organization from this point onward. Commanders are to communicate in map chat about the zerg numbers at each wurm. Urge people to stop afking on the fire and join one of the wurm squads.

    Wurm squads: Set up escort teams within squads, and explain escort and related achievements if necessary. Cobalt commander is responsible for the delay so should explain every time. A person at cobalt can also be appointed to watch the husk and call out if there is trouble delaying. If you need additional husk sitters, do not hesitate to ask defenses in guild chat to keep an eye on Xutt. Call out in map chat when your squad is ready: see above for the numbers you need in your squad.

    *****Food and Explanations*****
    When all commanders are ready, have food dropped near the fire or waypoint. Call to each zerg, along with map chat, to eat the food before moving out.

    Food to use:
    Orrian Steak Frittes - Power and Vitality
    Truffle Steaks - Power and Precision (30 minute duration! Drop at individual wurms if you choose to use these.)
    Steak and Asparagus - slightly weaker version of Truffle Steaks, but
    lasts 1 hour?
    Fire Flank Steaks - Power and Condition Damage (30 minute duration! Drop at individual wurms if you choose to use these.)
    In addition, you may wish to drop a thesis for power, condition damage, or accuracy.

    Run along the path to the wurm spawn area, stopping by any necessary waypoints, if you are leading a wurm or defense team. Do not waypoint yourself, people will be following you especially if they are new or need the map areas unlocked.

    Remind people to keep map chat clear during explanations. When each commander finishes they should announce ready in map chat. Cobalt commander will watch for all 4 ready signals, including defenses (say ready even if you are last), before making the call to kill the husk and spawn the wurm.

    *****The TTS Section*****

    TTS often sets up a Triple Trouble map in the same timeslot as EVOS (currently Monday-Tuesday and Thursday-Friday using North American times). Members are asked to avoid Bloodtide Coast while numbers are gathered in their TeamSpeak, especially around the time that the EVOS map is chosen.

    TTS members around the fire can generally be ignored when checking map populations, as they will likely leave when asked through TS. Once the EVOS map is chosen, TTS commanders are informed, and they will ask people to leave the map and avoid advertising in it.

    TTS will not begin looking for a map until 3:40 at the earliest, generally closer to 3:45-3:50. Around this time, an afk check may be done which could involve moving people to one of the locations used for setup (usually the Guild World Event symbol where reflect is).

    Shortly after, the map is chosen, and everyone will taxi away.

    If any TTS member or person otherwise representing TTS is interfering with setup, please be polite in asking them to stop or move away. Many people at TT are members of both guilds and hostility is damaging to both sides. If any serious problems occur, they can be reported (talk to the Eagles about the issue.)
